JoAnna Conte has over 25 years of experience across Commercial Underwriting, Specialty Operations and Technology solutions within the insurance industry. JoAnna is highly accomplished in global operations, have previously led the development and implementation of $45M operating platform and implemented operational efficiencies through customized training and streamlined practices specific to offshore captives. Prior to Sands Point, JoAnna also led all Underwriting Support across North America for Specialty, Commercial, Programs and Technology modernization efforts for QBE Insurance, responsible for $4.5B in GWP.  Prior to QBE, JoAnna served as Senior Underwriting Operations Leader for Specialty risk for Chubb Insurance, comprised of D&O, E&O, Cyber, EPL and Transactional Risk where JoAnna was responsible for $527M in GWP.   While at Chubb, JoAnna also served as a Senior Underwriter in the company’s Commercial Financial Institutions segment. JoAnna graduated top of her class at Johnson & Wales University, receiving her BA with a dual major in Business Administration, Strategic Management and Marketing Communications.

JoAnna is committed to educating and empowering the advancement of women in Insurance. Outside of Sands Point, JoAnna can be found riding her Vespa to the beach, finding a new place to travel with her family, and creating elaborate garden-to-table meals.


If you could go anywhere in the world, where would it be?

Always Italy, no matter how many times I’ve been, I can’t get enough.

If you could only eat one type of food for the rest of your life, what would it be?

Coffee, all day, everyday

What is your favorite season and why?

Endless Summer. I love driving around the coast on my Vespa, it is incredibly freeing. Sunshine, beach, salty air, absolutely nothing better!

What movie have you seen the most times?

Eat, Pray, Love

What is your favorite ice cream flavor?

Bannana Split – 3 scoops chocolate, doused in strawberry, pineapple, wet walnuts, hot fudge, whipcream and a cherry! I will also settle for Coffee Ice Cream or Mint Chocolate Chip.

If you could host a dinner with one person, alive or dead, who would it be and why?

My Father, he was always so encouraging, witty and hysterical. There isn’t a day that passes that I don’t miss him.

What is one thing you’ve learned that you wish you could tell your younger self?

Always trust your intuition.
